Honda partners with BuyCo and FourKites for container tracking

Japanese automative group Honda is to work with container shipping platform BuyCo and supply chain data provider FourKites to streamline container shipping operations for its Motorcycle and Power Products operations.

Honda will leverage BuyCo’s ocean carrier network to access shipping schedules and select the optimal option based on criteria such as CO2 emissions, cost, ETA and allocations.

Bookings can be made directly from the platform, with key performance indicators tracked to improve processes, while detention and demurrage tracking will see alerts issued where appropriate.

In tandem, container tracking and visibility will be delivered by FourKites, with direct access to ocean carrier movements, real-time AIS data, and information on terminal operations. FourKites will also work with its Japanese partner Mitsui Knowledge Industry to deliver hyper-localised data for the Japanese market specifically.

“The importance of international shipment visibility continues to increase across our customer base, especially with ongoing disruptions such as port strikes, global conflict and climate-related changes,” said Mathew Elenjickal, founder and CEO of FourKites.

“Our partnership with BuyCo helps customers improve the management of ocean shipping and react quickly to drive agility and adapt to such disruptions. We are honoured to have been selected by Honda to achieve its digitisation objectives.”
