Genoa-based shipping company Ignazio Messina & C has signed an agreement with Marlink subsidiary Telemar for the provision of safety and maintenance services to seven of its vessels.
The deal includes the deployment and management of Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) systems on seven vessels operated by Ignazio Messina & C.
This includes Jolly Argento, Jolly Oro, Jolly Rosa, Jolly Giada, Jolly Clivia, Jolly Verde and Jolly Bianco which joined the Messina fleet between August 2023 and April 2024, to operate on liner services in the Mediterranean, Middle East, India, Africa and Europe.
Telemar will also be responsible for managing and maintaining a range of radio and navigation equipment onboard, with the contract consolidating service responsibilities for the bridge navigation equipment with the service provider.
The new arrangement aims to save time and manpower, reducing the risk of non-compliance as scheduled service can be planned to agreed timeframes rather than carried out on an ‘ad hoc’ basis.
