MOL adds new simulators at SANGO facility

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has opened a new facility in Tokyo called SANGO, which will support a variety of training functions through its new simulator facilities.

Located in Toranomon Hills Station Tower, just a few minutes’ walk from the company’s Head Office, the company has established SANGO as a place where group employees can drop by at any time to connect and find inspiration for the firm’s future progress.

As well as providing open spaces for employee interaction and get-togethers, three simulators have been installed at the facility, including an LNG carrier cargo handling simulator, a crude oil tanker cargo handling simulator, and an engine simulator.

The engine simulator is designed to provide training on dual-fuel LNG/fuel oil engines and LNG bunkering operations, the first time such an option has been available at MOL and reflecting the increasing usage of LNG-fuelled vessels both inside and outside the MOL Group.

The simulator room was designed to be a bright and open space, with glass walls installed to make the training facilities visible from the outside and to encourage a greater connection amongst employees with the company’s safety culture.
