Norwegian company Reach Subsea reports that it has been granted funding of up to €14.3 million from the EU Innovation Fund, to be used to further its development of autonomous technologies.
Granted under the Net Zero Technologies initiative, the funding will support the scale-up of the Reach Remote project, which is focused on developing remote unmanned surface vessels for efficient and sustainable operations in ocean-based industries.
The Reach Remote project aims to develop a fleet of such vessels operating under the Norwegian Flag, to provide global subsea inspection, survey, and intervention services. The programme will integrate Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) with Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and aims to create significant improvements in remote maritime technologies.

The EU Innovation Fund provides a funding mechanism to support the development of zero-emission technologies, to assist companies in bringing decarbonisation systems to the market to support the transition to climate neutrality.
