lomarlabs and Mythos AI to collaborate on autonomous vessel tech projects

Lomar’s corporate venture lab, lomarlabs, and Mythos AI, a developer of autonomous systems, have announced a collaboration that will combine their respective capabilities for pilot testing of autonomous technologies on Lomar vessels.

Mythos AI’s flagship technology includes the Archie unmanned survey vessel, which incorporates an advanced pilot assist system (APAS) for use in congested coastal and inland waterways.

Equipped with sensors and real-time data acquisition systems, the company says that Archie is capable of COLREGs compliant autonomous navigation.

“With rapid developments that will see the commercial use of autonomous ships and the International Maritime Organisation aiming to finalise and adopt its non-mandatory Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) Code to protect safety at sea by May 2025, this collaboration comes at a critical time,” said Stylianos Papageorgiou, Managing Director at lomarlabs.

“Working with Mythos AI underscores our commitment to harnessing the best in technology and innovation to create cleaner, safer and more efficient maritime futures, allowing us to push the boundaries of what’s possible in sustainable shipping.”
