OpenBridge, an open-source design guideline for maritime user interfaces, has announced the release of its latest version, OpenBridge 6.0.
The new version maintains the foundational structure of the previous OpenBridge 5.0 but with improved component designs. These include optimised Bars and Graphs for data visualisation, reengineered Maritime Instruments to introduce new components, as well as a new Maritime Manoeuvring Section with map overlays for systems such as DP and Porting.
The Automation Section has also been updated to reflect changing trends in control rooms and industrial process interfaces.
“We are extremely pleased and proud to offer OpenBridge 6.0 as an open-source resource to the maritime community,” said Professor Kjetil Nordby, Ocean Industries Concept Lab, Oslo School of Architecture and Design.
“We set out on a mission nearly a decade ago to change maritime workplace design, and OpenBridge 6.0 is a significant step forward in realising that vision.”
OpenBridge is aligned with standards including IEC 62288 and ISA 101, and was developed by 40 industry, governmental, and academic partners, working collaboratively through research projects such as OpenAR, OpenRemote, and OpenZero.
This latest release was produced by the research group Ocean Industries Concept Lab at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, which manages all the research projects that build the OpenBridge ecosystem.
