Capital Group to deploy Kongsberg simulators at new Chios training centre

Capital Group in Greece has agreed a deal with Kongsberg Maritime for the delivery of K-Sim Engine Room and Cargo Handling simulators for a new maritime training facility on the island of Chios.

The systems, scheduled for delivery by the end of June 2025, will be used to support both STCW training and onboard automation system familiarisation for crews working across the Capital Group fleet.

The simulators will replicate the experience of using the Kongsberg equipment already installed on the company’s tankers and LNG carriers.

“Simulation training is a critical component of our crew development strategy,” said Captain Ioannis Tsirigos of Capital Ship Management’s Chios branch.

“The ability to train on familiar automation systems, such as K-Chief 600 and K-Chief 700, ensures that our personnel gain hands-on experience, improving safety, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.”
