Kongsberg Maritime has introduced a new Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) to deliver real-time data on exhaust emissions using sensor-based monitoring rather than fuel consumption estimates.
CEMS measures greenhouse gases including CO₂, CH₄, SOx, NOx, and CO across all onboard combustion sources. It is fully integrated with Kongsberg’s K-Chief vessel automation system to offer a unified interface and supports remote diagnostics with built-in cybersecurity protocols.
“Ship owners need to comply with upcoming regulations that are tightening, year by year,” said Randi Østern, Senior Project Manager at Kongsberg Maritime.
“The key to future proofing vessels is emissions monitoring, and Kongsberg CEMS delivers the reliable data from sensor to cloud that our clients demand.”
In addition to compliance monitoring, the system offers insights into operational performance, including alerts to support maintenance and ensure data accuracy.
