ChartWorld adds real‑time security alerts to ECDIS overlay

ChartWorld reports that it has added a Security Alert function to its Chart Information Overlay (CIO+) service, supplying real‑time, vessel‑specific risk data directly on a ship’s ECDIS.

The new feature is powered by intelligence from security company Ambrey, covering threats such as piracy, drone activity and regional instability.

Geo‑referenced alerts are overlaid on the navigational display via the company’s eSync Box, MyRA service or e‑mail, removing the need for separate back‑of‑bridge monitoring.

ChartWorld says the tool draws on community inputs from more than 1,000 vessels a day and offers global coverage, allowing crews to adjust routes or adopt mitigation measures with minimal delay.

““Conventional threat monitoring methods are simply inefficient, require constant back-of-bridge attention and often lead to delayed responses,” said Oliver Schwarz, Business Development Director at ChartWorld.

“Our CIO+ Security Alert solves this problem and offers ship masters added peace-of-mind when confronting increasing threats like piracy and geopolitical instability.”
