HD Hyundai subsidiaries Avikus and HD Hyundai Electric & Energy Systems (HD Hyundai ENT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen internal collaboration on autonomous navigation technology.
The deal will support joint work on the deployment of Avikus’ HiNAS (Hyundai Intelligent Navigation Assistant System) across live vessel operations, alongside broader engineering cooperation between the two companies.
Avikus CEO Dohyeong Lim said the agreement is part of a coordinated effort within the HD Hyundai Group to commercialise autonomous ship systems, combining the company’s navigation expertise with HD Hyundai ENT’s system integration capabilities.
HD Hyundai ENT CEO Mansub Lee added that group-level collaboration would be critical to building long-term competitiveness as autonomous technologies mature.
The partnership will include resource sharing across the two affiliates to support development of future systems, with autonomous navigation identified as a key growth area for the wider HD Hyundai Group.
