F. A. Vinnen & Co has agreed a deal to trial Inmarsat’s NexusWave bonded connectivity service on two vessels, as the Bremen-based shipowner looks to meet growing demand for internet access at sea.
The trial will assess NexusWave’s ability to support increased internal data transfer volumes and deliver consistent onboard connectivity for crew. The system combines multiple networks—including GX Ka-band, LEO, LTE, and L-band—into a single bonded connection.
Web browsing, streaming, voice and video calls, messaging, and other applications used regularly by crew for personal and professional communication will be supported.
