Korean Register (KR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with LAB021, marineworks, mapsea, and Avikus to cooperate on the development of technologies to support the digital transformation of the maritime sector.
The partners will work on joint development and application of marine digital systems and data platforms for in smart, autonomous, and green shipping.
The scope of the partnership also includes cooperation on maritime safety, environmental protection, operational efficiency, and international promotional efforts.
Each company brings different expertise to the partnership: LAB021 provides technologies for vessel operations optimisation and regulatory compliance, marineworks focuses on customised electronic chart systems, mapsea specialises in big data analysis and real-time navigation, while Avikus is active in AI-based autonomous navigation.
“Digital transformation is an essential task that the maritime industry must overcome, and in order to do this, it is necessary to combine various technologies and expertise to create synergy,” said Yoon Sung ho, Senior Vice President of KR (translated from Korean).
“KR will continue to expand cooperation with promising domestic and foreign software companies to actively support customer service and the industry’s transition to digital and eco-friendly operations.”
