Grieg Connect has moved to strengthen its Nordic presence through the acquisition of Finnish port management information system (PMIS) provider Wellamo Data.
The deal establishes the company in mainland Finland for the first time and forms part of a strategy to create a unified PMIS offering for ports across the region. Grieg Connect says that it now plans to build a local team in Finland and develop its systems in cooperation with Finnish port stakeholders.
Wellamo Data brings established relationships with ports and terminal operators, as well as adding invoicing, reporting and port-operations capabilities to the wider Grieg Connect portfolio.
Company founder Atte Rotko will join Grieg Connect in a senior role with responsibility for Finnish operations.
“This creates a long-term Nordic foundation for PMIS development in Finland,” said Mr Rotko.
“Grieg Connect brings broad Nordic experience and a solid platform for further development. I look forward to contributing to the next phase of digital development for Finnish ports.”
