OpenBridge 6.1 released to standardise vessel bridge interface design

The developers of OpenBridge have released version 6.1 of the open-source maritime interface design system, marking the end of its beta period and confirming readiness for commercial deployment.

OpenBridge says the update delivers a more complete set of components for industrial and navigational user interfaces, including dashboard elements, video and AR overlays, and a broader selection of instruments for ship and remote operations.

The system is designed to support compliance with standards including IEC 62288 and WCAG.

The project has been developed with input from maritime vendors and research partners, with the aim of improving interface consistency and reducing training requirements for crews as onboard systems become increasingly digitised.

The design files are available immediately via the OpenBridge website, with an update to the code libraries planned for March to align software implementation with the 6.1 standard.
