Alassia NewShips Management adds crew infotainment system

Greek ship management company Alassia NewShips Management has reached an agreement to deploy FrontM’s Loft Multiplex infotainment platform across its fleet. The project is intended to improve crew welfare and living standards for the company’s seafarers.

The Loft Multiplex system delivers live Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) to onboard smart TVs using a vessel’s existing satellite links.

The company says that the rollout is designed to support compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 by promoting social interaction and cultural inclusion.

“Our people are our most valuable asset. We select technologies that have a significant impact on daily life at sea,” said Alassia’s ICT Manager.

Alassia, founded in 2009 and managing a fleet primarily composed of dry bulk carriers, plans to use the digital tools to strengthen social connections and onboard morale across its multinational crews.
