Haskoning has acquired Portwise, a consultancy specialising in the planning and simulation of ports and terminals.
The move is intended to integrate advanced digital modelling with engineering expertise to support the development of automated maritime facilities.
Portwise provides simulation tools that allow terminal operators to test changes to operations before implementation. This data-driven approach is used to analyse the impacts of automation and electrification on terminal performance, allowing for analysis of how new technologies interact with existing infrastructure.
By combining these capabilities with the planning and design work of Haskoning, the companies aim to provide decision support throughout the entire lifecycle of port assets.
“Digitalisation, shifting trade patterns and sustainability requirements for ports and terminals are increasing the need for advanced simulation and data-driven decision-making,” said Marije Hulshof, CEO of Haskoning.
“By joining forces with Portwise and welcoming their talented team into Haskoning, we strengthen our collective ability to help ports worldwide become smarter, more efficient and more sustainable.”
The companies have not disclosed the financial details of the transaction.
