German Tanker Shipping receives integrated navigation systems for newbuild series

Anschütz has delivered and commissioned its Synapsis Integrated Navigation System (INS) on the first new tanker for German Tanker Shipping. The vessel, TMS Seadevil, is the lead ship in a programme of six 41,000 deadweight tonnage (dwt) oil and chemical tankers constructed at Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry (XSI) in China.

The bridge equipment is designed to support navigation in restricted waters and precise manoeuvring in ports. The Synapsis architecture provides uniformity across all workstations with centralised system monitoring.

The installation includes next-generation solid-state radars and seven multifunctional workstations for Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), chart radar, and conning.

The system also features a chart station with a 106-centimetre display, a NautoPilot 5400 autopilot, and a dual Standard 30 MF maintenance-free gyro compass system.

The project was managed through coordination between stakeholders in Germany and China. The Anschütz office in Shanghai worked with the bridge integrator Eastone and XSI to oversee the engineering and on-site installation of the system.

The navigation system programme for the remaining five tankers is currently underway. Integration and delivery activities for the subsequent vessels will continue throughout the construction schedule at XSI with support from the Shanghai team.
