The Maritime Company for Navigation (MACNA) in Saudi Arabia has awarded a strategic Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) contract to SmartSea. The agreement gives SmartSea full responsibility for the IT infrastructure of the marine mobility operator’s shore and vessel operations.
The contract builds on a recent digital transformation programme delivered by SmartSea for the company, which included a migration to Microsoft Office 365 and the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance. With these platforms now operational, SmartSea will move into a managed services role, overseeing networks, desktop support, and user environments.
The mandate includes the management of end-to-end IT operations, ranging from network monitoring and cybersecurity to vessel connectivity, to support the growth of the MACNA fleet.
“Appointing SmartSea to manage our full IT infrastructure is a strategic step that enhances our operational resilience and technology capability,” said Alan Rowan, Chief Executive Officer at MACNA.
“With expert oversight of our networks, user environments and Dynamics 365 platform, we can concentrate on delivering safe, reliable marine transport services while maintaining a secure, high-performing digital foundation.”
The project follows the successful completion of core platform migrations earlier this year.
