SeaARCTOS sulphur monitoring system gets LR approval

SeaARCTOS has announced that its ARCTOS-1 system for Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) emissions reporting has received Type Approval from Lloyd’s Register (LR). The technology monitors SO2, Carbon Dioxide (CO2), and geolocation data in real time and transmits it independently to a secure cloud platform.

The ARCTOS-1 unit is a stack-mounted sensor that captures data directly from vessel exhaust. It operates independently of the vessel’s communication systems and is powered by waste heat, requiring no external power or modifications such as welding or cutting.

The system includes automated operation and built-in tamper alerts to notify both operators and authorities of any interference and has undergone approximately 20,000 hours of real-world testing across commercial fleets.

“Direct autonomous reporting means that pollution issues can seamlessly be solved for regulators, flag states, port operators and authorities, and shipowners,” said Fredrik Fuglesang, CEO of SeaARCTOS.

“As regulatory oversight increases, verification systems that continuously monitor sulphur emissions will play a central role in future compliance strategies.”
