Korean Register (KR) has launched Version 24 of KR-CON, its digital database of international maritime conventions.
The latest version integrates AI-powered features into the web-based service and restructures the classification system for documents. These changes are intended to improve search performance, allowing users to verify regulatory requirements with greater speed and accuracy.
Search capabilities within the Convention Today menu, used to identify applicable regulations based on specific entry-into-force dates, have been expanded, while visibility has also been improved through the display of update dates and clearer identification of recently amended documents.
Version 24 includes amendments adopted during key IMO meetings in 2025, such as the 34th IMO Assembly, the 110th session of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), and the 83rd session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC).
Updates to major conventions, including SOLAS and MARPOL, have been integrated, and the database will continue to be updated as new instruments are adopted, KR says.
“Through this upgrade, we have significantly improved accessibility to convention information and search efficiency,” adds Kim Hoi Jun, General Manager of Convention & Legislation Service at KR.
“Looking ahead, we plan to adopt Agentic RAG (Agentic Retrieval-Augmented Generation), a next-generation AI-based search technology that retrieves external data, generates responses, and incorporates autonomous decision-making to further advance KR-CON into an intelligent service where AI can autonomously explore and verify information.”
KR-CON is available across several formats, including a web platform, mobile application, and USB.
