ABS and Alfred Maritime partner on cruise ship optimisation

The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and Alfred Maritime have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on technical projects for the cruise sector, based on a framework for cooperation on fleet performance and maintenance optimisation.

The collaboration focuses on three key areas: fleet performance and health monitoring, maintenance optimisation, and safety and emergency systems.

By aligning digital insights with classification processes, the organisations aim to reduce operational redundancies and streamline regulatory activities.

“ABS is committed to helping shape the future of cruise vessel safety, reliability and performance. We are pleased to join Alfred Maritime in this agreement to work together to advance the next generation of cruise vessel operations,” said Joshua Divin, ABS Senior Vice President, Marine Business Development.

The work will be supported by the ABS Cruise Centre of Excellence, which offers risk management, compliance, and engineering services to cruise operators.

“By combining our collective expertise, we are accelerating our shared vision for innovation and advancing our digital portfolio for the maritime industry,” said Dr Paul Meyer, Managing Director of Alfred Maritime.
