Shipdex and Inje University in South Korea have announced a cooperation agreement to accelerate the adoption of standardised technical data, with Inje University to integrate Shipdex’s data exchange standards into its digital systems for the exchange of maintenance and operational data among shipowners, shipyards, and equipment manufacturers.
“Standardised data is essential to driving the next phase of maritime digital transformation. The Shipdex Protocol enables optimal data exchange and integration among manufacturers, shipyards, end users, and all other maritime-related organisations,” said Marco Vatteroni, Secretary General at Shipdex.
“Equipment technical data (in Shipdex-D format) migrated to a database allows for the establishment of maintenance plans for all products. Additionally, maintenance operational data feedback (in Shipdex-F format) can be exported and integrated with Shipdex-D technical data.”
The joint initiative between the two parties aims to improve data accuracy, streamline manual workflows, and strengthen predictive maintenance capabilities.
“Our digital transformation solution will be custom-built to align with the Shipdex protocol and will support maritime sector stakeholders in utilising the protocol more efficiently,” said Professor Yongsun Choi at Inje University.
“One such application is converting existing technical documents into the Shipdex-D datasets using natural language processing (NLP)-based technologies.”
