Fleetzero launches marine autonomy platform

Fleetzero has announced the commercial launch of its marine autonomy stack, introducing integrated technology engineered to bring autonomous and tele-operated vessel capabilities to commercial and defence fleets. The platform combines hardware, software, and propulsion.

The core of the platform is OctoDrive, an autonomy software system designed to navigate and operate vessels in conditions where conventional crewing is impractical, hazardous, or cost-prohibitive. Developed by a team of US Navy veterans with operational experience in contested logistics, the system is engineered to meet the requirements of commercial shipping lanes and defence missions.

The artificial intelligence-powered system allows mariners to manage operations via a single-stack software platform that scales to integrate multiple vessels, sensors, and cameras. The platform features autonomous route planning and multi-sensor fusion, combining data from the Global Positioning System (GPS), Automatic Identification System (AIS), Inertial Navigation System (INS), radar, onboard systems, and cameras.

The platform also includes OctoPod, a fixed tele-operated command and control centre that provides situational awareness and operational control from a shore-based hub thousands of kilometres away. Built as a single-seat cockpit, the system enables secure, persistent remote operations and is designed for the tele-operation of vessels not subject to inspection under US maritime regulations.

For existing fleets, OctoBox offers a portable autonomy integration package roughly the size of a suitcase. The package allows shipowners to bring autonomous control to their current assets without undergoing a full vessel overhaul.

“Autonomy empowers mariners to accomplish their jobs faster and safer. With OctoDrive, OctoPod, and OctoBox, we’re giving operators the tools to extend their reach, protect their crews, and keep cargo moving, whether they’re running a commercial fleet or executing a defense mission,” said Steven Henderson, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fleetzero.
