Havoc and CSBC in autonomous vessel partnership

Havoc and CSBC Corporation, Taiwan have agreed a partnership to pursue licensed co-production of autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) for maritime security applications in Taiwan.

The agreement will combine CSBC’s shipbuilding and production capabilities with Havoc’s autonomy software, with CSBC-built platforms to be produced and supported in Taiwan.

The companies intend to establish a model in which Havoc provides the autonomy software while CSBC handles vessel construction, production and lifecycle support.

“This partnership allows us to combine CSBC’s shipbuilding, production, and lifecycle support capabilities with Havoc’s advanced autonomy technology, while strengthening Taiwan’s domestic supply chain and defence industrial base for the long term,” said Jeng-Horng Chen, Chairman, CSBC Corporation, Taiwan.

Havoc and CSBC say the model could subsequently be applied with other Indo-Pacific partners seeking to develop autonomous maritime systems using the technology coupled with domestic shipbuilding capacity.

“That’s what this partnership delivers: American autonomy software, Taiwan-built platforms, Taiwan workforce, and a model we intend to bring to other partners,” said Paul Lwin, Co-Founder and CEO of Havoc.
