EPS records strong uptake of microlearning among crews

Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) reports that it has seen a strong uptake of self-directed training among its crews after rolling out MarinePALS’ microlearning platform across its 161-vessel fleet.

During the first 45 days, 485 active users watched 26,722 training videos and completed a combined 2,181 hours of training, with users viewing an average of more than 55 videos each.

The platform provides short training videos covering specific subjects, supported by individual scorecards and fleet leaderboards. EPS can also monitor viewing activity and training time across the fleet.

“We have seen a strong appetite for learning since introducing microlearning across the fleet,” said Capt Pradeep Singh, Training Manager at Eastern Pacific Shipping.

“The level of activity shows that crews are not simply logging in to complete an assigned course but are exploring subjects for themselves.”

The platform was rolled out across the fleet within 30 days, with the company reporting that its training team can use the resulting activity data to understand how crews engage with training beyond formal course completion.
