Yara Marine Technologies, a provider of scrubbers and emissions reduction technologies for the maritime industry, has announced the acquisition of Lean Marine, a developer of vessel performance management systems, to add to its ‘green’ portfolio.
Lean Marine’s software and hardware technologies are already installed on approximately 200 vessels, used for real-time fuel optimisation and data analysis to improve operational efficiency and reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Its FuelOpt system adapts a vessel’s propulsion line in real-time based on commands from the bridge, enabling automated control of vessel speed and fuel consumption. Additionally, on vessels with controllable pitch propellers, the technology acts as a dynamic tuning system controlling the propeller’s pitch and RPM automatically.
Following the acquisition, Lean Marine will continue to offer its products as part of Yara Marine’s range, backed up by Yara Marine’s service and support infrastructure.
