Greek shipmanager A.M. Nomikos will roll out a new VSAT service on board its ships to improve connectivity for crew welfare and vessel operations, working with KVH and local service partner Nova Electronics.
KVH TracPhone V7-HTS antennas have been installed on three Nomikos vessels to date, with the rollout expected to continue across the fleet of 56 managed vessels in the coming months. The 60 cm Ku-band satellite antenna is designed to deliver data speeds up to 10 Mbps down/3 Mbps up.
The vessels will be connected through KVH’s AgilePlans Connectivity as a Service (CaaS) subscription-based service offering, which includes hardware, airtime, installation and a range of value-added services.
“Crew welfare is very important to our company, and we expect the fast data speeds of the KVH systems and the reliable HTS network will be a great benefit to our seafarers and our shipping operations,” said Yiannis Sofianidis, IT Director at A.M. Nomikos.
“The installation of the equipment was smooth and easy.”
