JRC and Alphatron Marine have introduced their new DynaPilot system, developed to offer ‘supported sailing’ options using a range of onboard technology.
The equipment was developed in cooperation with Navis Engineering in Finland, with whom JRC has a strategic partnership to develop a range of ship motion control systems.
The DynaPilot is based on the existing MFM autopilot, a type-approved modular Heading and Track Control System (up to CAT-C) designed to fit medium to large merchant ships, including high speed craft.
Specially designed as a Motion Control System, the autopilot, heading control and track control system, combined with the JRC ECDIS, are integrated with a smart interface to the engine RPM and thrusters, allowing the operator to control the ship with a single joystick.
The control console also supports auto position and heading, eco positioning and anchor, as well as system diagnostics.
Dynamic Positioning algorithms have also been integrated into the hardware to reduce the response time of the commands given by the control computer and provide a better user experience, the companies said.
The DynaPilot can be installed on all types of vessels with a suitable propulsion package and will be available in Q1 of 2022.
