Motorsport group Extreme E has agreed a deal with Eutelsat OneWeb to deliver communications for its vessel St Helena, the companies report.
Data-rates of up to 200 Mbps will be delivered for the 6,767 gross ton ship, which acts as a transport facility and floating VIP hospitality club for Extreme E, an international off-road racing series that uses electric SUVs to race in remote parts of the world.
The vessel is used to transport the motor racing teams’ Odyssey cars and all ancillary cargo, and is one of the first to have installed Kymeta Peregrine maritime user terminals.
Installation, integration and support of the connectivity services are being managed by OmniAccess.
