Port of Antwerp-Bruges reports that it has completed an upgrade of its DronePortal system, expanding its use of the drone technology in the management of port operations.
DronePortal is an Unmanned Aerial System Traffic Management (UTM) technology delivered by Belgian companies Unifly and SkeyDrone. The improvements delivered as part of the upgrade include optimised automated approvals, as well as enhanced integration support with drone operations.
The service will also now be extended to include the Port of Bruges following the implementation of the new version of the technology.
“Embracing innovation is at the heart of our strategy, and this partnership with SkeyDrone and Unifly reaffirms our commitment to fostering a smart, connected, and future-ready port,” said Erwin Verstraelen, Chief Digital Information and Innovation Officer, Port of Antwerp-Bruges.
“Together, we’re shaping a new frontier in uncrewed aerial operations.”
Operational in the Antwerp Port area since mid-March 2021, the drone system has processed over 5,000 flight authorisations to date.
