Danelec reports that it has launched a new Remote Operational Performance Test (OPT) service, an addition to its VDR (Voyage Data Recorder) remote services package.
The new offering will allow ship operators to perform mandatory VDR operational performance tests remotely, reducing the burden on vessel crews while ensuring continuous compliance with SOLAS.
This test, usually performed by the onboard engineering team annually or after sensor and VDR maintenance work, aims to ensure all VDR data is recorded correctly. The new Remote OPT enables managers and technicians to initiate and complete operational performance tests from shore, immediately making all documentation readily accessible.
