Fuelink adds FuelEU support to bunker software

Software provider Fuelink reports that it has added a new module to its digital platform, to support FuelEU Maritime compliance.

The Fuelink platform, used for bunker data management and fuel supply optimisation, will now enable users to calculate voyage emissions in line with FuelEU Maritime legislation and access credits to address any deficits and achieve compliance.

The company notes that FuelEU Maritime requires more complex calculations than the existing EU ETS scheme because it employs a ‘well-to-wake’ approach rather than ‘tank-to-wake’. This means that combustion emissions and the lifecycle emissions of the fuels, from production to distribution, are considered.

Fuelink already supports EU ETS compliance and inventory management of EU Allowances (EUAs). Users can upload voyage schedules and calculate ETS costs, simulating EUAs at different prices before buying through the platform.

Users can now also calculate the GHG intensity of each voyage in accordance with the Fuel EU Maritime framework, with emissions reports for every vessel to determine which vessels are compliant and which have a deficit to support internal or external pooling.

“Fuelink brings together real-time data and complex regulatory formulas, allowing machine learning to support accurate and transparent GHG emissions management,” said Konstantin Bronetskyi, General Manager, Fuelink.

“The platform supports confident and informed decision-making that aids regulatory compliance for both EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime while also saving time and money.”
