Thoresen Shipping has begun the process of migrating its fleet to the Sealink NextGen system from satcom service provider Marlink, as part of a wider digital transformation process.
Headquartered in Thailand with a presence in Dubai, London and Singapore, Thoresen Shipping is a dry bulk shipping operator with fleet of 24 fully-owned Supramax and Ultramax bulk carriers deployed in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Marlink will deploy a hybrid network for the company blending VSAT with Starlink LEO and additional backup services. The integration includes software-defined application routing (SD-WAN) using Marlink’s XChange network management tool as well as Endpoint Detection cyber protection.
The SD-WAN functionality can be used to support cloud applications and remote operations at sea by ensuring guaranteed connectivity levels integrating the different available networks, whether GEO, LEO or MSS backup.
