Hull cleaning robot system made available in Singapore

The Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) hull cleaning technology offered by HullWiper is to be made available at PSA terminals, Seatrium Yards and Singapore’s inner anchorages following an agreement between the company and Unidive Subsea.

Plans are also in place to expand services to FPSOs, FSOs and semi-submersibles in the port city under contracts with regional oil and gas companies, the company said.

Unidive Subsea already provides diving and ROV services in Singapore and is set to add HullWiper’s system in January 2025.

“Innovation is key to success, and with Singapore’s maritime sector being a lynchpin to our country’s economic growth, having HullWiper in this region opens up new opportunities,” said Jeremiah Chen, Unidive Subsea’s Director.

“It allows us to refine traditional service methods and adapt to the ever-evolving demands of this dynamic industry.”

The ROV technology allows cleaning operations to be undertaken at any time and while cargo or bunker fuel operations are underway, improving safety by reducing the risks associated with traditional diver-based cleaning and ensuring that residues and contaminants are collected and filtered.

Since its launch in Dubai in late 2013, HullWiper is now available in ports across the Middle East, as well as in Australia, South Korea, Mauritius, Panama, Denmark, and Sweden.
