Supply chain and logistics company De Well Group has taken part in a pilot project aimed at streamlining electronic Bill of Lading (eBL) processes using the CargoWise system, working in conjunction with WiseTech Global, IQAX and the Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN).
The project will see software company WiseTech Global integrate its CargoWise platform with IQAX’s eBL system using GSBN’s blockchain-based infrastructure, with the goal of allowing freight forwarders to manage eBL transfers directly within CargoWise without switching between external systems.
The pilot involved COSCO Shipping issuing an eBL via IQAX on GSBN’s platform, with the new integration between IQAX and CargoWise allowing the users to complete the digital eBL transfer and surrender process with reduced manual data entry.
“This collaboration with GSBN and IQAX enables freight forwarders and 3PLs to request, receive and process COSCO Shipping eBLs without having to leave CargoWise, vastly simplifying and streamlining communication between shippers, carriers, and consignees,” said Andrew Cartledge, Interim CEO at WiseTech Global.
“The pilot with De Well Group demonstrates that the adoption of eBLs, and replacing manual processes across multiple IT systems with a single user interface, enhances the user experience, reduces errors and subsequently increases productivity.”
“Together, GSBN, IQAX, WiseTech, COSCO Shipping and De Well Group are proving the benefits and path forward for adopting eBLs. And we are excited about extending the collaboration to other carriers who have implemented IQAX eBL, such as OOCL.”
