Valmet introduces web-based vessel automation system

Valmet has launched a new version of its marine automation technology, introducing the fully web-based Valmet DNAe Integrated Automation System.

The system integrates with onboard equipment to offer a unified platform for control, analytics, configuration, and maintenance. The company says it is the first web-based marine automation system to receive ISASecure SSA Level 1 certification, for its built-in cybersecurity features.

“As the maritime industry evolves and ships become increasingly connected, our customers have a growing need to manage and analyse large volumes of data, taking cybersecurity into account,” said John Weierud, Director, Marine Automation, Automation Systems, Valmet.

“Therefore, in developing this system, we have focused on usability, performance, and cybersecurity, while ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable operations.”

The DNAe system includes a scalable and redundant data platform, offering access to real-time and historical data via a common user interface. It supports a range of automation user groups, from the engine control room to the bridge, with embedded analytics tools.

Cybersecurity features include role-based access control, user authentication, audit trails, and data encryption. The system also supports OT/IT integration through secure communication interfaces, allowing connection with external systems as required.
