IQAX has become the first provider globally to go live with the latest version of the Digital Container Shipping Association’s (DCSA) electronic Bill of Lading (eBL) API standard on the Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN) platform.
The deployment of DCSA eBL API v3.0 was completed on 11 June 2025 following collaboration between IQAX, GSBN and its carrier members. The update passed DCSA’s end-to-end conformance testing and is now available for use by all DCSA carrier members on GSBN to support faster integration and rollout.
More than 550,000 eBLs have been processed via GSBN’s blockchain-enabled infrastructure to date, the company says.
“We are happy to support our carrier customers that are DCSA members such as Hapag-Lloyd, in implementing their preferred eBL standard,” said George Guo, CEO at IQAX.
“IQAX eBL is designed to prioritise the operational needs of container carriers as exemplified by this implementation. As the only eBL solution supporting all major international standards, we aim to offer greater flexibility and choice to carriers and their customers to accelerate eBL adoption and digital trade.”
GSBN notes that multiple eBL standards have already been implemented on its platform, including BIMCO’s, with further work ongoing to align with upcoming data models such as the UN/CEFACT Multimodal Transport Reference Data Model and ISO 5909.
“With multiple standards and data models emerging across the ecosystem, there is a growing need for a universal ‘data adapter’—a mechanism that enables trusted data to be used for different trade scenarios, with the proper consent,” said Bertrand Chen, CEO at GSBN.
GSBN is also working with the International Chamber of Commerce’s Digital Standards Initiative (ICC DSI) on efforts to harmonise trade data and support interoperability.
