Cobham Satcom sale to Solix completed

Cobham Satcom has confirmed the completion of its acquisition by Scandinavian investment firm Solix Group, marking the start of a new phase for the company as part of a portfolio of independently operated businesses.

Solix, which has experience in both the maritime and government sectors, says the acquisition will support Cobham Satcom’s efforts to grow its presence across its core markets, with a continued focus on vessel connectivity and safety systems.

“This is the start of an exciting new chapter for our company,” said Christophe Duret, CEO of Cobham Satcom.

“Solix has recognised our capabilities, strategic vision, and the significant opportunities within our markets. We have a remarkable legacy to uphold in serving our maritime customers, and a unique opportunity to deliver innovative solutions to defence customers.”

Cobham Satcom has itself evolved through a series of acquisitions over the past two decades, including Thrane & Thrane in 2012 and the earlier purchase of Nera’s mobile satcom business in 2006, the original developer of the SAILOR brand.

The move marks Solix’s second recent acquisition in the maritime technology space, following a deal to acquire Wärtsilä’s Automation, Navigation and Control Systems (ANCS) business in late 2024.
