B&A Software has released ExpressMarine 6.0, the latest version of its parametric structure modelling platform for ship design, adding native support for the OCX (Open Class eXchange) format to enable more efficient data exchange between designers, shipyards, and classification societies.
The OCX export function allows users to deliver complete 3D structural models in a standardised digital format, reducing manual rework and eliminating dependence on traditional 2D drawings.
The exported OCX dataset has been successfully tested and approved by Bureau Veritas (BV), confirming its reliability for classification and structural approval processes.
“Together with B&A Software, we tested the exchange of 3D model based on the OCX format,” said Matthieu de Tugny, Executive Vice President, Industrials and Commodities, Bureau Veritas.
“This demonstrates our readiness to apply the 3D Classification to address modern vessel design challenges, enhancing efficiency, and advancing the maritime industry.”
