Teledyne completes acquisition of Saab’s TransponderTech business

Teledyne Technologies has completed its acquisition of Saab’s TransponderTech division, expanding its maritime communications and navigation portfolio under the newly formed Teledyne FLIR TransponderTech AB.

Based near Linköping, Sweden, the business will operate as FLIR TransponderTech and continue to develop Automatic Identification System (AIS), VHF Data Exchange System (VDES), and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies for commercial, defence, and aerospace applications.

The company will join Teledyne’s existing maritime technology brands, including Raymarine, FLIR Marine, ChartWorld, and Teledyne CARIS, widening the group’s offering across navigation, safety, and data management systems.

“From complete autonomous underwater vehicles to products and services for large Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) class vessels, maritime instrumentation and software for imaging, navigation, and safety are core markets for Teledyne,” said George Bobb, President and CEO of Teledyne.

“FLIR TransponderTech’s communications and navigation solutions are highly complementary and further expand FLIR Marine’s portfolio of industrial, military, and airborne technologies.”
