Japanese ferry operator Hankyu Ferry upgrades predictive maintenance capabilities

Japanese ferry company Hankyu Ferry has signed a nine-year Lifecycle Agreement with Wärtsilä to support the long-term operational reliability of its vessels Yamato and Settsu.

The agreement covers remote operational support, condition monitoring, and Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight predictive maintenance system, enabling proactive maintenance to reduce downtime and emissions.

Hankyu Ferry’s Yamato and Settsu vessels, launched in 2020, operate on the Shinmoji–Kobe route, carrying trucks and cargo such as food products between Kansai and Kyushu.

“It is important that our ferries can operate sustainably, without disruption, which is why we have chosen to take advantage of this long-term lifecycle agreement with Wärtsilä,”,” said Tsutomu Nishioka, Technical Manager, Hankyu Ferry.

“This allows us to focus on serving our customers, since we can be confident that the ships’ maintenance is being expertly handled.”
