OneOcean and Samsung Heavy Industries sign vessel optimisation MoU

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and OneOcean, the digital tech provider owned by Lloyd’s Register, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on digital and data-driven systems for ships.

The partnership will focus on AI and machine learning applications for vessel lifecycle performance, voyage optimisation, and boil-off gas modelling for SHI-built vessels.

“This MoU is completely aligned with OneOcean’s core mission to advance people, planet and performance using data, AI and a smarter approach to digital workflows,” said Andy McKeran, Managing Director, OneOcean.

“Our digital operating systems, voyage performance and vessel optimisation expertise will provide exceptional insight for SHI’s industry-leading designs, delivering improved safety, greater sustainability and superior vessel operations.”

OneOcean was created through the integration of LR OneOcean and Ocean Technologies Group, following the acquisition of OneOcean in 2022 and Ocean Technologies Group in 2024.
