Inmarsat Maritime has confirmed that its NexusWave connectivity service will be boosted from the expansion of the ViaSat-3 satellite network following the recent launch of ViaSat-3 F2, announcing plans for a new VS60 maritime terminal built with Intellian and Viasat radio technology.
Two ViaSat-3 satellites due to enter service in 2026 will add ultra-high capacity, steerable spot beams and dynamic bandwidth steering across major shipping lanes. Inmarsat expects NexusWave customers to see faster, more consistent speeds and greater flexibility for data-heavy applications as the services come online.
Inmarsat says that the VS60 terminal, designed specifically for ViaSat-3, recorded download speeds above 250Mbps in sea trials and is intended to support enterprise networking, video and mission-critical traffic with multi-layer protections for sensitive data.
