P&O Maritime Logistics has signed a contract with Dutch firm Onboard to assist in digitalising the company’s harbour towage operations, starting with vessels in Mozambique and the Dominican Republic.
Under the agreement Onboard will deploy its Maritime IoT Platform and the Onboard Ship App for the collection and management of real-time engine and sensor data, with the aim of standardising job registration and improving workflows between crews and shore teams.
The roll-out is intended to support two strategic objectives – more precise monitoring of fuel consumption and emissions to meet sustainability targets, and better vessel utilisation through enhanced operational visibility.
Implementation is due to start in early 2026 with a phased deployment to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
