Marlink has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with maritime analytics firm Metis to provide expanded Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities for shipowners and fleet operators.
The collaboration combines the Marlink’s maritime digital infrastructure and customer support capabilities of Metis’ experience in end-to-end data acquisition and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered analytics.
The partnership is designed to expand Marlink’s ability to deliver operational intelligence systems for its customers, enabling users to capture, analyse, and operationalise high-frequency vessel data more effectively.
“Shipping companies are under increasing pressure to improve efficiency, reduce emissions and make better decisions from the data already available onboard their vessels. The agreement also provides a roadmap for deeper technical integration between the two companies. Future development will focus on aligning IoT and AI-powered analytics from Metis with the Marlink XChange NextGen edge platform.
