Angelicoussis doubles data usage following Starlink deployment

The Angelicoussis Group has rolled out Starlink satellite connectivity across more than 140 vessels, leading to a doubling of data consumption across its fleet. The deployment was completed in collaboration with SpaceX and authorised Starlink reseller Navarino.

Founded in 1947, the Angelicoussis Group operates a diversified fleet of 160 vessels across the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), tanker, and dry bulk segments, with a combined carrying capacity exceeding 22 million deadweight tonnes (dwt) and over 9,700 employees globally.

The transition to the new service utilises flexible, pooled data plans to support video calls, high-definition video transfers, real-time telemetry, and improved cybersecurity protections across the vessels.

The improved onboard digital capabilities have also become a core element of the crew welfare strategy of the Group, helping to strengthen talent acquisition, crew quality, and retention.

From an operational perspective, high-definition video files for insurance claims, incident analysis, and proactive or condition-based maintenance can now be transferred with minimal delay.

“Its high-speed, low-latency service enables real-time data, video, and telemetry exchange across more than 140 vessels, while ‘home-like’ internet at sea has become a clear advantage in attracting and retaining younger seafarers and strengthening our overall crew value proposition.”
