Mapsea gets funding for AI-powered S-100 ECDIS

Mapsea reports that it has secured multi-million-dollar R&D funding through Korea’s 2026 Scale-up TIPS programme to support development of its AI-powered S-100 ECDIS.

The company’s AI route engine uses 150 billion trajectory records alongside weather, currents, depth, and vessel-specific performance and fuel models to recommend routes based on safety, weather avoidance, fuel efficiency and carbon emissions.

Mapsea says the system will also display the reasoning behind its route recommendations.

The company is working with RightShip, BNK Venture Capital and Infineon Technologies as it continues development of its S-100 ECDIS for the global navigation market.
