Napoleon Container Terminal updates software system

Cargotec subsidiary Navis has announced that Ports America has implemented the N4 software system at its Napoleon Container Terminal in New Orleans, Louisiana.

With a current annual TEU of 350,000, Napoleon Container Terminal has implemented several technological upgrades in recent years, including the Navis VoyagerTrack appointment system to optimise interactions with its customers, including truckers, carriers and shippers. The Ports America Gatehouse Complex and Terminal uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems at its sites.

Customers of Napoleon Container Terminal will also have access to the Ports America TOS Web Portal, which interfaces with the Navis N4 system to provide real-time information to track cargo from arrival to when it is available to be picked up.

“Having N4 in place helps ensure we can effectively manage larger container volumes and meet the evolving demands of our global customer base,” said Keith Palmisano, General Manager, Napoleon Container Terminal.

“The seamless implementation process would not have been possible without the collaboration between our operations and IT groups and Navis’ support team. Additionally, thorough simulation and live testing of gate, yard and vessel processes prior to our go-live, was essential for ensuring the TOS would perform as designed from day one.”
