ClassNK issues remote survey guidelines

ClassNK has released its new ‘Guidelines for Remote Surveys’, outlining requirements for some types of occasional surveys which the classification society says it will implement on its own remote surveys from now on.

ClassNK says it has investigated and examined the types of surveys to which new remote inspection technologies can be applied, and the types and amounts of information required for remote surveys, ensuring reliability equivalent to conventional witness surveys with transparency in the application of remote surveys.

The published guidelines are the outcome of this work, and will be reviewed as necessary in accordance with the further development of related technologies, the class society says.

The Guidelines are available to download free of charge via ClassNK’s website for those who have registered for the My Page service.
