NYK LNG ship has cyber security system certified by ClassNK

Classification Society ClassNK has completed certification of a Cyber Security Management System (CSMS) implemented by NYK Group subsidiary NYK LNG Shipmanagement aboard its managed LNG carrier PACIFIC MIMOSA, the first CSMS certified by the Society.

ClassNK released its Cyber Security Management System for Ships in March 2019, providing guidance on implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving cyber systems.

The guidance includes management measures covering protection against cyber risks during navigation, as well as during the construction/design stage of the vessel.

The CSMS certification inspection process validates the CSMS developed for both the company and the ship, and assesses cyber security policies, risk assessment, and other operational elements in line with the standards established by ClassNK.
